This one's been sitting on the desktop for a while now. Finished it yesterday.
Arkana was a character from an old french cartoon called Les mondes engloutis which I watched as a kid. Back then it fascinated me, now I can't remember much about it.
There was a guy called Spartacus, two kids and some weird yellow armadillo things and they were all looking for something. It had a cool weird euro sci-fi vibe to it. It's one of those shows that I'd rather keep as a nostalgic memory, because I have a suspicion the animation doesn't quite hold up nowadays. I recall lots of recycled loops and whatnot.
Ahh that theme song takes me back...
Fear my deadly alien brain in a jar spider mecha thing...
Still work in progress, it'll soon be on a poster.
I've always enjoyed villains that were essentialy an evil brain, there's something endearing about watching a villain trying to get by without the aid of superficial things, you know... like bodies, it adds a whole new level of challenge to the whole conquer/destroy the world/universe thing.
And with that in mind, I now present you with a brief anthology of villanous brains (jar optional):
Krang - evil brain from dimension X! for me this is probably were it all began, this petite pink villain from TMNT entertained me for quite a few of my childhood saturday mornings. Technically he had an android body, but he rode around in its stomach(!), sweet...
Mother Brain - the fearsome final boss of the Metroid series. Which I first saw, in a rather atrocious "reinterpretation", on the Captain N TV show. Fortunately, thanks to emulators, I rediscovered the real thing.
The Biologic Computer - third boss of the mega-drive game, The Revenge of Shinobi, which I played a lot off back in the day. Not really much to it, its a brain... in a jar... in some sort of metal shell thing... It shoots lasers at you... which is cool, I guess.
Uncle Irvin - actually I don't remeber if this guy was a villain... but he is a brain, in a fish tank no less. He was a character in the french film, City of the Lost Children.
Herman von Klempt - An evil nazi scientist from the Hellboy comics, he still has his whole head, but does indeed, reside inside a jar.
And these are all I can remember from the top of my head... I think I'm missing a few.

"Hey Brown, draw us a spiffy black and white cover for our movie flyer."
-Allrighty, when do you need it?
"Like, in a couple of hours."
-Mother****ers!!
